Characteristics

Plant apparently polycarpic; caudex relatively robust. Internodes 4 (–7). Flowering stems lax to erect, sparsely branching from base, 5–15 cm high. Basal leaves ±oblanceolate, 10–20 mm long, c. 5 mm wide. Stem leaves oblanceolate to lanceolate, often 40 mm long, 10 mm wide, grading to 10 mm long, 3 mm wide above. Terminal inflorescence usually erect, 3–5-flowered; pedicels 1–2.5 (–5) cm long, not subfiliform. Flowers 5-merous, c. 2.5 cm diam. Calyx lobes lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, 4–5 mm long, smooth marginally, acute. Corolla white or tinged violet, with grey-violet veins; tube 3 mm long; lobes 10–12 mm long. Stamens 5; anthers c. 2 mm long. Ovary 8 mm long, with 20–25 ovules; stigmas c. 0.5 mm long. Capsule c. 9 mm long. Seeds not seen.
