Characteristics

Plant monocarpic; caudex not seen. Internodes 2–4. Flowering stems very lax-attenuate, sparsely branched, to 30 cm high. Basal leaves not seen. Stem leaves narrowly oblanceolate, to 20 mm long, 4 mm wide. Terminal inflorescence lax, 3–6-flowered; pedicels 1.5–3 cm long, subfiliform. Flowers (4-or) 5-merous, to c. 1.5 cm diam. Calyx lobes linear to linear-lanceolate, 4–5 mm long, smooth to minutely papillose-serrulate on margins, with apex ± acuminate-recurved. Corolla white, with grey-violet(?) veins; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 6–8 mm long. Stamens (4 or) 5; anthers c. 2 mm long. Ovary c. 8 mm long, with c. 40 ovules; stigmas c. 0.5 mm long. Capsule to 12 mm long. Seeds ±spherical, 0.6 mm diam., reddish brown.
