Characteristics

Plant monocarpic; caudex small. Internodes 2–5. Flowering stems suberect, branching from base, 1.5–5 cm high. Basal leaves ± spathulate, to 15 mm long, 5 mm wide. Stem leaves oblanceolate to obovate, 6–8 (–11) mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide. Terminal inflorescence 1–2 (–4)-flowered; pedicels 0.5–3.5 cm long, not subfiliform. Flowers (4-or) 5-merous, to c. 1.5 cm diam. Calyx lobes narrowly lanceolate, 4.5–7 mm long, ±smooth marginally, acute. Corolla white or strongly tinged violet, with colourless or grey-violet veins; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 7–9 mm long. Stamens (4 or) 5; anthers 1.5–1.9 mm long. Ovary 6 mm long, with 40–45 ovules; stigmas c. 0.6 mm long. Capsule and seeds not seen.
