Erect or ascending, short-lived perennial, 3–6 dm, little branched below the infl; sep at anthesis not more pubescent than the pedicels, 4–6 mm; pet 7–10 mm, deeply notched; fr 15–20 mm, the carpel-bodies strigose, not wrinkled. Native of Europe, rarely adventive in our range. May–Sept.
