Perennial semi-procumbent, creeping and climbing herb 3–10 dm. long; stems herbaceous, longitudinally grooved, pilose on the older parts but usually densely glandular on the younger parts; internodes 1–14 cm. long, 1.5–3 mm. thick, frequently pinkish-red or dull purple..
