Leaf-lamina 5-lobed, divided nearly to the base; lobes 1–2 mm. across at base, ovate in outline, deeply divided into linear to oblong-lanceolate segments, stiffly pilose above and stiffly pilose on the veins and margin below, otherwise glabrous on the under surface; petiole 5–35 mm. long, longitudinally furrowed, pilose or glandular; stipules 3–15 mm. long, lacerated nearly to the base into lanceolate segments, pilose or glandular.
Inflorescence 2-flowered; peduncle 1–25 cm. long, pilose or glandular, rarely glabrous; pedicels 1–8 cm. long, pilose or glandular; bracts 3–8 mm. long, narrowly lanceolate, pubescent.
Perennial herb, semi-procumbent, creeping and climbing; rootstock woody; stems longitudinally furrowed, pilose on the older parts but usually densely glandular on the younger parts.
Sepals 6–8 mm. long, 2–3 mm. broad, elliptic-lanceolate, cuspidate, 3-nerved, pubescent, coarsely pilose or glandular.
Cocci smooth, pilose; mature rostrum 15–20 × 1–1·5 mm., glandular or pubescent; stigmas 2–4 mm. long.
Seeds glabrous, the testa covered with a shallow reticulate network.
Petals about 10–12 × 5–7 mm., pink or mauve, rarely white, nerved.
Stamens 10, filaments about 6 mm. long, narrowly lanceolate.
