Spikelets narrowly lanceolate, 7–8 mm. long; lower glume narrowly ovate to ovate, 3–4 mm. long, usually sparsely hairy with long stiff white hairs, bearing a capillary awn 4–7 mm. long; upper glume elliptic-lanceolate, glabrous, acuminate to an awn-point up to 1.5 mm. long; lower lemma lanceolate, pubescent, with or without a few long stiff hairs above the middle, acuminate; lower palea elliptic, 3.5–5 mm. long, pubescent, acutely acuminate; upper lemma 2.5–3.5 mm. long (entire part), pubescent, the lobes 1 mm. long and each bearing a fine bristle 1–1.5 mm. long; awn 1.4–2 cm. long; callus oblong, 0.4–0.5 mm. long, truncate..
