Characteristics

Low tree or shrub, much branched, up to 5 m. tall and 7.7 m. across; bark smooth, grey; main branches procumbent or arched; branchlets at first erect; twigs fairly thick,  emitting a colourless sticky sap when cut which hardens and darkens on drying; axillary shoots often very short.. Leaves widely spaced on the terminal shoots, clustered on the axillary shoots; petiole 0.5–2.5 cm. long, with 0–3 sessile discoid glands on the upper surface; stipules 0; blade deltate, reniform, suborbicular, rhombate or pentagonal, sometimes shallowly, rarely deeply 3–5-lobed, (1–)2–5 cm. long, (1–)2–7(–8) cm. wide, usually obtuse, cuneate or shallowly cordate, margin glandular, papery, at first densely stellate-pubescent, later only sparingly so or subglabrous, 3–5(–7)-nerved, the lateral nerves anastomosing irregularly.. Male inflorescences up to 4.5 cm. long and up to 15-flowered; bracts 0.5–2(–3) mm. long; flowers subsessile or shortly pedicellate; calyx-lobes oblong, 4.5–5.5 mm. long, 1.5–2.5 mm. wide, obtuse, stellate-pubescent without, adpressedly so within; petals oblanceolate-oblong, 5–6(–8) mm. long, 1.5–2.5 mm. wide, obtuse, glabrous except for a large stellate hair on either side near the base, pale greenish yellow; disc thick, 5-lobed; stamens (3–)5(–7), 4–5 mm. long, the filaments glabrous, but stellate-pilose at the point of union, anthers 1 mm. long.. Female flowers solitary, rarely in pairs, terminal; pedicel 4–5 mm. long; calyx-lobes and petals ± as in ♂, rarely only 4; disc shallowly 5-lobed; ovary globose, 3 mm. long, densely stellate-pubescent, 1–2-locular; style 6–7 mm. long, 2-armed, the arms bifurcate, flat, pale yellow-green, with a dark, thickened, minutely warty margin.. Fruit subglobose, 2.7 cm. long, 2.6 cm. in diameter (when fresh), smooth, at first evenly stellate-pubescent and dark green, later glabrous and yellow; exocarp soft, mesocarp harder, endocarp thin, woody; placenta elongate.. Seed ovoid-subglobose, 1.4 cm. long, 1.2 cm. broad, smooth, pale yellow, mottled dark brown.. Fig. 62.

It is 27 mm long by 26 mm wide. It turns yellow. It is woody. The seeds are oval and 14 mm long by 12 mm wide. They are pale yellow mottled with brown.
