Characteristics

Robust herb 75–90 cm tall. Stems usually 5–8 mm diam. Leaves linear to narrowly lanceolate; lamina 20–30 mm long. Inflorescence of c. 3 dichasia of c. 30 flowers; bracts lanceolate, 5.5–6 mm long, often adnate to peduncles of dichasia, green to yellow; bracteoles similar but smaller. Flowers 4-merous, cream to sulphur yellow. Sepals 0.6–0.7 mm long. Petals navicular, 3.4–3.9 mm long; tip reflexed in bud. Stamens 8. Ovary obovoid, 0.9–1.5 mm long; wings 4, decurrent in sepals and pedicel; styles 0.9–1 mm long; stigmas orange-yellow. Fruit ovoid-oblong, 5.5–6.5 mm long, cream; wings 0.5 mm wide; sepals not enlarged; pedicel 3.5 mm long.
