Characteristics

Mat-forming, dwarf, succulent shrub, with ascending, later decumbent stems, internodes visible but short. Leaves erect, decussate, soft, long leaf of a pair 40-65 mm long, short one 8-14 mm long, basally with a constriction, apically keeled, bright green. Flowers yellow. Fruit stalks persistent, tops raised, base spongy, valve wings or awns absent, 8-locular.
