Perennial herb, stoloniferous; stems numerous, 5–30 cm long, prostrate or trailing with erect flowering branches, simple or laxly branched; stems appressed silvery-or grey-tomentose but glabrescent on older parts.. Leaves silvery grey, linear or spatulate, 1–5 cm long, 0.1–0.7 cm wide, base half-clasping, apex acute or mucronate, (thinly) appressed tomentose on both surfaces.. Capitula white or cream, slightly aromatic, 2–3 mm long, 2–12 together in tight terminal clusters; stalks of inflorescences cottony, to 1 mm long; receptacle flat, honeycombed; phyllaries ± 4-seriate, golden or pale brown, lanceolate, 1.5–3 mm long, acute, the outermost golden-brown and proximally loosely lanate, the two innermost series distally with a white lamina.. Florets: outer florets white or cream, 36–183, tube filiform, 1–1.4 mm long, lobes < 0.5 mm long; style 1.3–1.7 mm long, shortly bifid; inner florets 4–35, yellow or red-tipped, tube narrowly infundibuliform, 0.9–1.7 mm long, lobes 0.1–0.2 mm long, sparsely glandular-pilose; anthers 0.6–0.8 mm long, briefly caudate with an obtuse distal appendage; style 1.2–1.8 mm long, with truncate branches.. Achenes ellipsoid, 0.4–0.6 mm long, glabrous, glandular; pappus 1–1.8 mm long, of outer florets barbellate, of inner florets barbellate and distally subplumose.
