Characteristics

Glabrous semi-erect ephemeral to 30 cm high. Branchlets terete, wiry. Leaves linear or ovate, the lower ones oblong, 5–30 mm long, 2–6 mm wide, glaucous. Flowers in cymes; pedicels 4–18 mm long. Perianth segments equal, fused for up to half their length, white inside. Stamens many, evenly distributed; filaments terete, hirsute at base, papillose above. Capsule with bifid valves. Seeds club-shaped or comma-shaped, tuberculate, dark brown or black.
