Characteristics

Slender annual herb; stem creeping with erect branches, rooting at the nodes, 4-angled, glabrous or appressed setose.. Leaves decussate; lamina rhombic-ovate to broadly ovate, up to 3.2 cm. long and 2 cm. wide, apex subobtuse to acute, base shortly attenuate, membranous, crenulate, pinkish green beneath, sparsely setose above and on the nerves beneath; nerves 3–5, scarcely prominent beneath; petiole slender, up to 13 mm. long.. Flowers 1–3, subtended by a caducous dentate-ciliate bract.. Calyx-tube 3.5–4 mm. long, 3.5 mm. in diameter, sparsely pilose to glabrous; lobes linear-triangular, 5 mm. long, sparsely ciliate, persistent.. Petals obovate, ± 8 mm. long, 4 mm. wide, delicate, pale pink.. Stamens 5–5.5 mm. long; anthers 1–1.5 mm. long; connective ± 0.5–1 mm. long with 2 minute tubercles; filament 3–3.5 mm. long..
