Spikelets 3–5-flowered, laterally compressed, the florets loosely exserted from the glumes; glumes narrowly lanceolate, slightly unequal, 1-nerved, keeled, acuminate; lemmas shorter than the glumes, keeled, thinly membranous, 3-nerved, ciliate near the margins, shortly and bluntly bilobed at the tip, awned from between the lobes; awn filiform, slightly recurved; palea as long as the lemma; callus minute, obtuse.
