Characteristics

Tree to 8 m high. Shoots and peduncles pubescent, otherwise glabrous. Leaf rachis 5–17.5 cm long; leaflets 4–8, obliquely ovate or ovate-oblong or elliptic, usually subfalcate, attenuate, acuminate to obtuse, entire, 5.5–18 cm long, 2.5–8 cm wide, ±chartaceous, finely reticulate; petiolule 3–6 mm long; petiole 4–7 cm long. Inflorescence axillary, to 11 cm long; pedicels 6–10 mm long. Sepals elliptic, 6–7 mm long, tomentose. Petals 7.5 mm long. Disc hairy. Stamens 5. Ovary velvety; style short. Fruit transversely ellipsoidal or depressed broadly obovoid, 1.5–2.2 cm long, lobes subglobose, divaricate, inflated, slightly granular, glabrescent; valves glabrous inside, sepals persistent. Seed 1 per locule, nearly covered by aril.
