Capsule ovoid, ellipsoid or subspherical, somewhat compressed, loculicidal.
Calyx tubular or tubular-campanulate, 5-dentate or 5-lobed to below middle.
Leaves opposite or alternate usually at least the lower reduced to scales.
Parasitic herbs, erect or ascending, usually glandular-hairy.
Seeds numerous, oblong in outline, truncate.
Stigma clavate or oblong, tongue-shaped.
