Annual herb, parasite, 0.07-0.20 m high; stem yellow to greenish yellow, viscid, pubescent. Leaves sessile, concave, oblanceolate, 4-5 x 5-8 mm, apex obtuse to subacute; puberulous, hairs appressed or directed upwards. Inflorescence a spike, with 4-12 yellow flowers. Bracts opposite, elliptical to lanceolate or oblanceolate, concave. Calyx 30-52 x 9-17 mm, obconical at base, bilabiate, externally villous, internally pubescent; lobes deltate to lanceolate. Corolla tough; tube yellow, erect, ± equal, reflexed, slightly curved, externally pubescent, internally puberulent to glabrescent. Stamens didynamous, inserted above base of corolla; filaments puberulent, nearly exserted. Ovary spherical-ovoid, exserted, incurved at tip; stigma clavate. Flowering time Jan.-Mar.
