Characteristics

Slender annual herbs up to 35 cm high, simple or branched; basal few nodes sparsely hairy or puberulous, the rest glabrous. Leaves 2.5-7 cm long, 0.5-1.8 mm broad, filiform or linear-filiform, simple, glabrous. Racemes terminal, lax. Pedicels 4-7.5 mm long in flower, slender, erect, puberulous; 0.8-1.2 cm long in fruit, stout, sharply deflexed or recurved. Sepals 3-3.8 mm long, narrowly oblong; outer 2 cucullate, shortly horn-tipped; inner 2 slightly saccate with membranous margins. Petals 5.8-7.5 mm long, 3.5-4.8 mm broad, broadly obovate, clawed. Filaments 2-2.4 mm and 2.3-2.8 mm long. Anthers 1 mm long. Ovary with 14-20 ovules. Fruits 2-4 cm long, 1.3-1.5 mm broad, linear with straight margins; valves 1-nerved, slightly bulged by the seeds, glabrous or puberulous; style 2-5 mm long, stout, narrowly cylindrical or slightly tapering.
