Juicy perennial, 0.6–1.8 m. tall, with stout but easily broken, fistular, sulcate-striate, densely finely pilose stems; stems 1.25–1.8 cm. wide below, simple or with 1–2 ascending branches with very reduced leaves.. Basal leaves several in a loose rosette, narrowly oblong in outline, ± 35–60 × 8–13 cm., simply pinnate with usually 6–7 pairs of roundish or bluntly deltoid, mostly ± 5 × 5–7 × 7 cm., irregularly pinnatifid leaflets (the upper often overlapping), the ultimate teeth obtuse, mucronate; indumentum ± densely pilose over the entire surface and especially the lower surface of the veins; sheaths tapering, broad, striate, ± 7.5–14 × 3_4 cm.; petiole ± 12–17 cm.; median stem leaves shortly petiolate or sessile on the sheaths, similar but usually with fewer and smaller pinnae at shorter distances apart; sheaths very broad, clasping the stem, ± 4.5–9 × 2.5–4.5 cm.; uppermost leaves commonly with the leaflets more congested, longer and narrower, with sharper teeth, these sheaths also broad and inflated.. Umbels several, on sulcate peduncles 3–24 cm. long; rays 12–20, sulcate, densely pilose, 1.5–6.5 cm.; involucre absent or of 1–few linear to broadly oblong bracts up to ± 1 cm. long; partial umbels ± 20–26-flowered, pedicels 3–15 mm., densely furnished with rather shining hairs of diverse lengths; involucel of ± 4–14 linear bracteoles 6–13 mm. long, at least some exceeding the pedicels in young fruit.. Calyx-teeth narrowly to broadly triangular, ± 0.5–1 mm., early-deciduous.. Flowers white, the outermost petals of the outer partial umbels very strongly radiate, deeply cordate, (7–)8–ll mm.; inner petals elliptic-oblong, ± 2 mm., with an incurved tip.. Fruit broadly elliptic, ± 6–10 × 3.5–6 mm., pilose especially on the margins; stylopodia conical, exceeding the apical notch of the fruit; styles arcuate-recurved, slender, ± 2 mm.; vittae 4 dorsally, 2 on the commissure, all reaching 3/4 of the way to the base..
