Characteristics

Perennial, 30–50 cm. tall, with fistular, sulcate-striate, densely pubescent stems; stems 3–6 mm. wide below, simple, branching only in the inflorescence.. Basal leaves several, narrowly oblong in outline, ± 11–19 × 2.2–3 cm., simply pinnate with 7–11 pairs of roundish to ovate, 8–13 × 5–15 mm., irregularly incised-dentate to subpinnatifid leaflets, teeth very blunt, leaflets crowded upwards, 1–2 basal pairs remote; indumentum very short, ± generally distributed over both surfaces but densest on the veins and margins at least on the lower surface; sheaths striate, rather narrow, ± 1.5–5 × 0.8–1.2 cm.; petiole c. 1–4 cm.; median stem leaves sessile on the sheaths, lamina more triangular with more sharply-toothed segments; sheaths not very broad and inflated, ± 2.5–3 × 0.8–1.4 cm.; uppermost leaves much reduced, with a small lamina and small sheaths up to 1.5 × 0.8 cm.. Umbels 3–4, on sulcate peduncles 4–7 cm. long; rays 4–10, sulcate, densely pilose, 0.6–2 cm.; involucre generally present, of 1–3 linear bracts up to 5 mm. long, sometimes absent; partial umbels ± 10–18-flowered, pedicels 3–5 mm., furnished with dense shining subglandular hairs of mixed length; involucel of ± 8–12 linear bracteoles 3–5 mm. long.. Calyx-teeth deltoid, blunt, ± 0.5 mm.. Flowers white, the outer petals of the outermost partial umbels slightly radiate, cordate, ± 1.5 mm.; inner petals oblong-obovate, ± 1.25 mm., with an incurved tip.. Mature fruit not seen, young fruit shortly pilose with divergent 1.5–2 mm. styles.. Fig. 41/7.
