Flowers nocturnal, white or creamy white, occasionally creamy yellow, outer tepals usually flushed red, sometimes brown outside, sweetly scented when open in later afternoon and evening; perianth tube 5-9 mm long; tepals (9-)12-16 mm long. Flowering time: August and September to early October in the southeast; flowers opening late afternoon, usually after 16:00 (but variable), closing after 21:00-21:30 or after 2:00, depending on population and weather conditions.
