Characteristics

Shrub or tree to 13 m; branchlets puberulous. Leaves subcoriaceous, glabrous, elliptic to obovate, obtuse, mostly 3–4 cm long, 1–2.5 cm wide, remotely serrate-crenate or entire, decurrent at base; secondary veins 4 or 5 pairs; petiole 3–6 mm long. lnflorescence racemose, 2.5–5 cm long; rachis puberulous; bracts and bracteoles 0.3 mm long, puberulous; pedicels puberulous, less than l mm long. Flowers 6– or 7–merous. Hypanthium broadly obconical, 1.2 mm long, puberulous. Sepals and petals similar, linear-lanceolate 1.5 mm long. Stamens solitary, rarely a pair, opposite each petal; filaments glabrous, to 2 mm long. Disc glands depressed, puberulous. Ovary pilose inside; ovules c. 12; styles 4 or 5, occasionally 3 or 6, pubescent.
