Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 4–7 x 2.5–4.2 cm., ovate, broadly ovate or oblong-ovate, apex obtuse or subacute, base sometimes slightly asymmetric, truncate or abruptly cuneate, pubescent on both sides, margin shallowly crenate, entire towards the base; nerves in 7–8 pairs, slightly prominent above, prominent below; veins laxly reticulate; petiole up to 1 cm. long, densely pubescent.

Flowers in subsessile, axillary or terminal, dense racemes; pedicels in fascicles of 2–3, articulate in the middle, with a caducous, lanceolate, puberulous bract 1–5 mm. long at the base of each fascicle.
Ovary conical, filled with long filamentous hairs inside, shortly pilose outside; ovules 6–12, compressed; styles 3–4, pilose, up to 2–5 mm. long, free almost to the base.
Tree c. 8 m. tall, with a straight bole and smooth grey bark; young branches densely yellowish-pubescent.
Stamens 5–7, filaments c. 2.7 mm. long, slender, sparsely pilose; anthers 0.6 mm. in diam., orbicular.
Petals 5–7, c. 2.7–1.5 mm., rhomboid-elliptic, obtuse at the apex, densely pilose.
Sepals 5–7, c. 2.2 x 0.5 mm., narrowly linear-lanceolate, puberulous.
Disk glands c. 0.8 mm. in diam., discoid, tomentellous.
