Characteristics

Succulent perennial herb, creeping and matforming, ± 50 mm tall. Stems mostly 5-angled (rarely 6), strongly toothed. Corolla lobes distinctly transversely (zebra) striped; with prominently raised annulus. Inner corona lobes shorter than to slightly exceeding anthers, with evident transverse dorsal gibbosity. Flowers (25-) 35-45(-50) mm in diameter. Flowers sulphur-yellow or pale greenish yellow marked with transverse reddish to red-brown or purplish bands or spots; annulus heavily spotted red to dark purple-brown, spots often merging so that annulus appears entirely dark purple-brown; corona cream or buff-coloured with dark purplish narrow margin.

Stems decumbent, 30-120 mm long; tubercles 5-7 mm long, joined into 5(-6) angles along stem. Corolla (25-)35-50 mm diam.; inside cream and very brightly transversely striped with red to maroon on lobes changing to ± circular dots on edge of shiny annulus.
