Trailing perennial; culms wiry, very slender, up to 1.6 m. long.. Leaf-blades linear-lanceolate, 4–8 cm. long, 2–5 mm. wide, light green, flaccid.. False panicle scanty, of up to 5 distant raceme-pairs (or rarely the racemes single); spatheoles lanceolate-linear, 4–5 cm. long, light green tinged with purple, the peduncles mostly a little longer; racemes 1.5–3 cm. long, 7–15-awned per pair, not deflexed; raceme-bases unequal, the upper 1.5–3 mm. long, terete or somewhat flattened, softly pilose or sometimes bearing stiff bristles.. Homogamous pairs 1 at the base of the lower raceme only.. Sessile spikelet 4–5 mm. long, glabrous; callus square or semicircular, 0.5 mm. long, broadly obtuse; awn 7–12 mm. long, glabrous.. Pedicelled spikelet acuminate.
