Characteristics

Annual or bushy perennial herb, 0.1-1 m tall. Stems erect to spreading, ± densely appressed strigose to canescent, becoming woody below. Stipules 1-5 mm long, lanceolate or subulate, erect, spreading or reflexed. Leaves pinnately 5-11-foliolate; leaf axis 6-40(60) mm long, including petiole of 2-10 mm; terminal leaflet 6-25(35) x 1.5-8(12) mm, elliptic-oblong, lanceolate or linear, glabrous or sparsely strigose above, ± densely strigose beneath. Raceme 4-22 cm long, including peduncle of (10)25-85 mm, ± densely many-flowered; bracts 0.5-2 mm long, lanceolate-subulate; pedicels c. 1 mm long. Calyx 2-4 mm long, lobes narrowly triangular, ± equal to tube. Stamens 3.5-5 mm long. Pod 18-40 x 1.5-2.5 mm, densely appressed strigose, ± canescent. Seeds 10-20, c. 1.6 x 1.2 mm, globose to oblong, orange, slightly purple mottled.
