Characteristics

Stiffly erect rather woody herb, up to 150 cm. tall from a taproot; branches rather densely covered with short (± 0.3 mm.) appressed white, brown or black hairs.. Stipules subulate, ± 1 mm. long; rhachis up to 15 mm. long, including a petiole of ± 1 mm., not prolonged beyond lateral leaflets; leaflets 7–11, on petiolules up to 1.5 mm. long, narrowly oblong, cuneate at the base, rounded apiculate and recurved at the apex, up to 15 mm. long and 3 mm. wide, strigulose beneath, glabrous above.. Racemes 5–17-flowered; peduncle strigulose, 1–4 cm. long, about as long as the rest of the axis; bracts persistent, 1–2 mm. long; pedicels up to 8 mm. long in fruit.. Calyx densely covered with appressed black hairs, 3–4 mm. long, divided to the middle into triangular lobes.. Corolla densely covered outside with mainly golden-brown appressed hairs.. Stamens 10–13 mm. long.. Pods cylindrical, up to 4 cm. long, ± 2.3 mm. wide, dark, black strigulose; endocarp spotted.. Seeds ± 8, well separated.
