Characteristics

Herb up to 35 cm high; corm globose-ovoid, 1–2.2 cm long, 0.6–1.6 cm in diameter; cataphyll when present, 3.1–7 cm long.. Leaves linear, 8.5–15 cm long, 0.15–0.5 cm wide, apex acute.. Flowers solitary, axillary in the upper leaves or in a bracteate raceme; bracts linear, 2–6 cm long, 0.1–0.25 cm wide; pedicel erect, 2–2.5 cm long.. Flowers green to yellow, sometimes purplish on one side, the filaments often dark crimson, dark purplish to almost black, the styles pink to black; perianth segments linear to narrowly linear-lanceolate, 3.5–6 mm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, apex acute.. Filaments 1–3.5 mm long; anthers up to 1 mm long.. Ovary 2–4 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide; styles ± 1 mm long.. Capsule 0.9–1.9 cm long, 0.4–0.6 cm in diameter; seeds 1–2 mm long, 1–1.2 mm in diameter.
