Characteristics

Monocarpic herb or much branched suffrutex, 0.2-1.5 m tall. Stems bifariously hairy with fine eglandular hairs or with hairs on all sides. Leaves ovate, elliptic, thinly textured, (14.5-)20-69(-122) x (7.5-) 11-33(-57) mm, acuminate; base rounded to attenuate; lateral veins 3 to 7, usually 4 to 6. Petiole (2.5-)3.4-30(-65) mm long. Inflorescence terminal and axillary, interrupted, internodes with glandular trichomes; flowers 2 at a node; terminal inflorescence (15-)20-62(-120) x (2.5-)2.9-12(-35) mm; leaf below inflorescence ovate to linear-lanceolate, (3.4-)4.3-17(-27) x (2-)4.1-9.1(-13) mm, acuminate; bracts with rare short and long eglandular and sparse to dense short-stalked glandular trichomes on the outer surface and sparse short and long eglandular and sparse to dense short-stalked glandular trichomes on the margins; bracts at base of inflorescence linear-lanceolate, (1-)2.2-6.8(-14) x (0.3-)0.4-2.1(-3.5) mm, tip slightly recurved; bracts next to open flower linear-lanceolate, (1.8-)2.6-5.7(-8.5) x (0.1-)0.3-2.4(-7) mm, acuminate; lateral inflorescence (7.5-)11-33 (-56) x (1.5-)2.9-7.1(-11) mm; leaf below lateral inflorescence (3-)4-12(-20) x (1.3-)2.4-6.7(-9.5); bract at base of inflorescence linear-lanceolate, (1.5-)1.9-4.5(-6.8) x (0.1-)0.2-2.4(-6) mm; bracts next to open flower linear-lanceolate, (2-)2.1-4.9(-7) x (0.3-)0.5-1.4(-2.5) mm. Sepals linear, (3-)4.1-6.6(-10) x (0.2-)0.3-0.8(-1.2) mm at anthesis; (6-)6.3-8.8(-11) x (0.3-)0.4-0.9(-1.4) mm at fruiting, outer surface with dense short-stalked glandular trichomes on the outer surface and sparse short and rare long eglandular trichomes, margins with rare to sparse short-stalked glandular trichomes. Corolla tube (4-)4.3-6(-7) x (1.2-)1.7-2.6(-4) mm; upper lip (4.2-)4.8-6.4 (-8) x (3.5-)3.6-5.2(-6) mm; lower lip (4-)4.8-6.5(-7.5) x (4-) 4.8-6.5(-7.5) mm; ridges on palate 5 to 7. Pollen grains 34.7 µm diam. Capsule (8-)8.6-11(-13) x (1.8-)2.3-3.4(-4) mm. Seeds (1.7-)2.1-3.2 (-4) x (1-)1.4-2.1(-2.5) mm.
