Characteristics

Herb to 60 cm tall, usually sprawling; branches pubescent, sometimes bifarious, sometimes hairy on all sides, with dense white eglandular trichomes on the upper internodes. Leaves ovate, (17-) 23-40(-52) x (5.2-)12-21(-28) mm, acute; base rounded to cuneate; dark upper surface with scattered eglandular trichomes; lighter lower surface with sparse eglandular trichomes along midrib; lateral veins 2 to 5, usually 3 or 4. Petiole (4.5-)6.3-18(-28) mm long with eglandular trichomes. Inflorescence terminal and occasionally axillary, interrupted; flowers 2 at a node; terminal inflorescence (4.5-)6.6-21(-31) x (2.5-) 3.7-7(-9) mm; leaf below inflorescence ovate, (2-)3.8-9(-14) x (1-) 2.1-5.8(-9) mm, acute; bracts with sparse short and rare long eglandular trichomes and dense glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells on the surface and dense short and very dense long eglandular trichomes and sparse glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells on the margins; bracts at base of inflorescence broadly lanceolate, (1-)3.7-6.3(-6.5) x (0.5-)0.6-1.5(-1.8); bracts next to open flower broadly lanceolate, (3.9-)4.4-6.7(-7.5) x (0.6-)0.8-1.6(-1.9) mm; lateral inflorescence (4.5-)5.7-16(-20) x (0.5-)2.2-6.6(-7.5) mm; leaf below lateral inflorescence (4.5-)4.7-7.1(-8) x (1.2-)1.6-3.6 (-4.5); bracts at base of inflorescence broadly linear, (3.9-)4-4.9 (-5.5) x (0.5-)0.6-1.5(-1.8) mm; bracts next to open flower (4.5-)6.2(-6.2) x (0.7-)0.8-1.5(-1.5). Sepals linear, (5-)5.4-7.4 (-8.5) x (0.3-)0.4-1(-1.5) mm at anthesis, (7.5-)7.9-9.2(-10) x (0.6-)0.6-1.3(-1.5) mm at fruiting, outer surface with sparse short and long eglandular trichomes and dense glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells, margins with sparse short and dense long eglandular trichomes and sparse glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells. Corolla tube (3-)4.2-6.1(-8.2) x (1.5-)2-3.5(-4) mm; upper lip (4-)4.4-6.8 (-8) x (4-)4.4-6(-6.7) mm; lower lip (3.8-)4.4-6.3(-8) x (4-)4.1-6.2(-6.5) mm; ridges on palate 6 to 8. Pollen grains 36.05 µm diam. Capsule 8.9-10 x 2.4-3.2 mm. Seeds not seen.
