Characteristics

Sparingly hairy, branches 8-20 in. long; leaves up to 3 by 1 in., elliptic, acuminate, base narrowed; petiole up to 1.25 in. long; flowers in small loose panicles, mostly towards the ends of the branches; bracts up to 0.75 by 0.125 in., linear-oblong; bracteoles much smaller, linear-oblong, thinly hispid with non-glandular white hairs; calyx 0.25 in. long; segments linear, pubescent; corolla-tube 0.75 by 0.05 in., hardly widened upwards; anticous lip 0.67 by 0.33 in., ovate, nearly entire; posticous lip 0.5-0.67 in. long, linear-oblong; stamens 2; anther-cells oblong, muticous, one completely above the other; pollen globose, compressed, circular faces smooth with a few scattered prickles and a stopple in the centre of each; pistil glabrous; style very shortly 2-lobed; capsule 0.5 by 0.17 in., 4-seeded, the placenta not rising elastically from the base; seeds roughly wrinkled.
