Characteristics

Herb or occasionally a suffrutex to 1 m tall; mature stems often bifariously hairy, immature stems usually with dense, long (more than 3 cells), white, eglandular trichomes on all sides. Leaves ovate, (7-)17-33(-46) x (5-)9-17(-25) mm, acute; base cuneate to rounded; dark upper surface with scattered eglandular trichomes; lighter lower surface with eglandular trichomes mainly along the midrib and veins; lateral veins 3 to 6, usually 4 or 5. Petiole (1.2-)4.5-11(-15) mm long, with eglandular trichomes. Inflorescence terminal and axillary; flowers 2 at a node; leaf below terminal inflorescence ovate, (5.5-)6.3-11 (-15) x (3.3-)4.2-6.9(-10) mm; terminal inflorescence (11-)16-35 (-42) x (4-)5.5-9(-11) mm; bracts with rare short and long eglandur trichomes and sparse to dense short glandular trichomes on the surface and sparse short and very dense long eglandular trichomes and sparse glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells on the margins; bracts at base of inflorescence obovate with acuminate tip, (3.6-)5.4-8 (-9.5) x (2-)2.3-3.9(-5); bracts next to open flower obovate with acuminate tip, (4.5-)5.3-7.2(-8) x (1.4-)1.6-3.3(-5) mm; lateral inflorescence (6.5-)7.4-20(-39) x (2.5-)4.6-7.2(-9) mm; leaf below inflorescence ovate, (4.5-)5.6-8.6(-9.5) x (2.3-)3.6-5.7(-7) mm; bracts at base of inflorescence lanceolate, (4-)4.5-6.9(-8.5) x (1.2-) 1.8-3.3(-4.2) mm; bracts next to open flower lanceolate, (3-)4.2-6.8 (-7.2) x (1.2-)1.4-3(-4). Sepals linear, (4.5-)5.3-8.5(-10) x (0.4-) 0.5-0.9(-1.2) mm at anthesis; (6.5-)7.5-10(-12) x (0.5-)0.6-1.1 (-1.5) mm at fruiting, outer surface with sparse short and rare long eglandular trichomes and sparse to dense glandular trichomes with 2 to 4 stalk cells, margins with a dense fringe of long eglandular trichomes and sparse glandular trichomes with 3 to 4 stalk cells. Corolla tube (4-)5.5-8.3(-10) x (2.1-)2.6-4.1(-5) mm with short eglandular trichomes; upper lip (4-)6-7.8(-8) x (5-)5.3-6.9(-7.5) mm; lower lip (4-)5.8-7.8(-8) x (5.2-)6-10(-15) mm; ridges on palate 6 to 8. Pollen grains ±38.6 µm diam. Capsule (6.7-)7.8-10.7(-11.5) x (2-)3.2(-3.6) mm. Seeds (2-)2.2-3.2(-3.5) x (1.5-)1.6-2.4(-3) mm.
