Characteristics

Monocarpic suffrutex to large shrub, 0.2-5.0 m tall. Stems soft to woody, diameter 2-50 mm, either bifariously hairy or with hairs on all sides. Leaves ovate to broadly elliptic, (22-)51-117(-156) x (12-)27-68(-93) mm, acute to acuminate; base obtuse to rounded; lateral veins 4 to 9, usually 5 to 7. Petiole (7.5-)17-69(-130) mm long. Corolla tube (2.5-)4.2-7.4(-12) x (1-)1.6-2.7(-4) mm; upper lip (4-)4.7-6.4(-7) x 4-5.4 (-6) mm; lower lip (4-)4.7-6.4(-7) x (4-)4.6-6.4(-7.5) mm; ridges on palate 7. Pollen grains 38.8 µm diam.
