Characteristics

Male flowers: pedicels c. 1 mm long, later up to 3 mm long; calyx 3 mm long, calyx lobes 1.5–2 × 1.5 mm, triangular-ovate, obtuse or rounded, entire, eglandular, pale green; petals 5 × 2 mm, oblanceolate-oblong, rounded, glabrous without, pilose within, yellow, pink-tinged; disk glands 5, free, contiguous, thick, angular, truncate; stamens 8, the 5 outer 4 mm long and fused for c. one-third of their length, the 3 inner 5 mm long and fused for c. two-fifths of their length, anthers 1.5 mm long, bright yellow.

Inflorescences 7–10(24) cm long, terminal, with a peduncle up to 7 cm long; bracts up to c. 5 mm long, narrowly lanceolate, acute, entire or subentire.
A slightly succulent, glabrous, glaucous, shrubby forb-like perennial herb up to 50 cm high; stems arising from a rootstock, densely leafy.
Stipules 0.5–1 mm long, simple, filiform-subulate, or bifid, eglandular, hyaline, soon falling, or absent.
Fruit c. 10–12 × 8–9(10) mm, 3-lobed to ellipsoid, shallowly tuberculate-rugulose.
