Characteristics

Plants epiphytic, erect or straggling; stems to 300 x 5 mm, sometimes branched at the base, aerial portions usually simple; sheaths 15 mm long, leaf blades dark green, linear-lorate, keeled at the base and flat apically, rounded, unequally bilobed, held stiffly at 45°, 60-90 x 6-10 mm. Inflorescences axillary, 1-flowered; peduncles 30-50 mm long, with 2-3 imbricate, acute, tubular sheaths at the base; bracts like sheaths. Flowers 30 mm in diameter, white; ovary often with a sharp kink directly below the flower. Sepals similar, linear-lorate, acute, 15-22 x 3-4 mm; median erect to reflexed; laterals slightly oblique. Petals linear-lorate, acute, spreading, 12-16 x 2-3 mm. Lip rhomboidal, acute, clawed, 20 x 6-7 mm, blade flat and claw keeled and ridged; spur 38-36 mm long, slender, tapering, often with a slight kink in the upper quarter. Gynostemium 2 mm tall, rosªtellum forming a broad flap. Capsules cylindrical, 35-45 x 10 mm.
