Characteristics

Loosely tufted, c. 50-60 cm high; rhizome short, long or lacking. Stems without internal transverse septa below inflorescence. Leaves c. 1.5 mm wide, ± compressed, transversely septate across whole width. Inflorescence 5-15 cm long, open, sparingly branched with long, slender, primary and secondary branches with 4-10-(20)-flowered clusters at tips of branches. Tepals 3-3.  long, ± equal, greenish, occasionally tinged with red, acuminate. Stamens 6. Capsule 3.5-4 mm long, obviously > tepals triquetrous, ovate-lanceolate, long-tapering from about the centre to the acuminate top, reddish-brown.
