Characteristics

Plants perennial, 10--30 cm tall. Rhizome short. Stems 0.6--1 mm in diam. Cataphylls few, chestnut brown. Basal leaves 1 or 2, cauline leaf 1; leaf sheath auricles well developed; leaf blade linear-lanceolate, flat, 5--30 cm × 1--4 mm, veins numerous, apex acuminate. Inflorescences with involucral bract leaflike, 3--15 cm, longer than inflorescence; heads 3 or 4, subglobose to hemispheric, 5--10 mm in diam., 3--7-flowered. Perianth segments lanceolate, apex acute; outer segments 2.8--3.5 mm; inner segments 3--4.5 mm. Stamens 6; filaments 6--7 mm; anthers 1.5--1.8 mm. Style 1.5--2 mm; stigmas 1--1.5 mm. Capsule yellowish, somewhat shiny, inconspicuously trigonous ellipsoid, 3.5--5 mm, 1-loculed. Seeds brown, ovoid, 0.7--0.9 mm, both ends appendaged; appendages caudate, 0.2--0.5 mm. Fl. Jun--Jul, fr. Aug--Sep.
