Creeping soft subshrub. Stems to 2 mm diam., shortly pubescent especially on leaf buttresses. Leaves ±membranous, elliptic-obovate, narrowed at base, obtuse, occasionally acute, upper surface lightly pubescent, margins usually ciliate, ±glaucous; lamina 2–6 mm long, 0.6–1.5 mm wide; up to 7 veins visible adaxially. Inflorescence of 1–4 flowers, with 1 or 2 central vegetative buds; bracts often larger than leaves, narrowly oblong to spathulate. Flowers bisexual or less commonly unisexual (then populations dioecious or gynodioecious). Perianth 2.5–3.5 mm long. Seed 1.5 mm long, 0.8 mm diam.
