Characteristics

Leaf-blade flat, or rather harsh and involute above in plants from Antipodes Id. Culm usually included within uppermost leaf-sheath, internodes finely scabrid. Lemma 1.5-2 mm, with dense short hairs throughout; awn (0.5)-1-3.5 mm, straight, from upper ⅓ of lemma. Palea ≈ lemma, nerves distinct. Callus hairs dense, very short, to 0.5 mm, ⅕-¼ length of lemma. Rachilla prolongation to 0.5 mm, tipped by hairs to c. 1 mm. Anthers 0.5-0.8 mm.
