Leaves 1-foliolate; petioles (0·3)1–5 cm. long, subterete, narrowly canaliculate above; lamina (3·5)6–19·5 × (2·5)4·5–15 cm., ovate to broadly elliptic, rounded at the apex, margin entire or undulate, truncate to cordate at the base, subcoriaceous, at first subconcolorous (softly and densely fulvous-stellate-tomentose on both surfaces) then discolorous (dark green with ± dense dull-yellowish stellate hairs above and fulvous-to whitish-tomentose below), finally glabrous or almost so above, whitish-yellow-to greyish-tomentose below; midrib, lateral and tertiary nerves impressed above, raised but covered by the tomentum beneath as is also the reticulation.
Suffrutex or shrublet up to 1·20 m. tall; stems arising from a woody rootstock, cylindric, at first densely fulvous-to greyish-stellate-tomentose, finally glabrescent.
Inflorescences arising with the leaves, 1·5–7·5 cm. long, axillary, solitary, spike-like, with tomentose axis.
Petals greenish-cream, c. 2·5 mm. long, oblong-ovate, contracted at the base.
Calyx-segments c. 1 × 0·75 mm., ovate, with stellate hairs on the outside.
Drupe green tinged with red (unripe), 9–11 × 7–8 mm., oblong, compressed.
Flowers fasciculate, nearly sessile.
