Characteristics

Rhizome long-creeping, 7-17 mm thick, scaly at the apex; scales 5-6 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, dark brown to black, glossy; margins entire. Fronds moderately crowded. Stipe 30-55 cm long, densely hairy throughout, scaly near the base. Lamina 4-pinnate, pentagonal, 30-60 cm long, 22-60 cm wide, catadromous throughout, dark green and slightly glossy above, pale and dull beneath, thin, glabrous except for the veins; rachises densely hairy; lower surface also with scattered scales. Ultimate segments oblong; margins shallowly to deeply lobed; apex subobtuse. Sori numerous, between margin and midrib. Indusium dark brown, thin.
