Characteristics

Perennial shrub to 50 cm high, dense, intricately branched, glabrous; young stems photosynthetic. Leaves reduced to narrow needles, up to 20 mm long and 1 mm wide. Inflorescence a short raceme. Sepals 3–5 mm long. Petals linear, attenuate, acute, 5–6 mm long, white. Stamens 6. Style 2–3 mm long, exserted. Silicula dehiscent, obovate, 5–7 mm long, 4–5 mm wide, frequently asymmetric with only 1 seed developed; wing approximately one-fifth length of fruit, somewhat obtuse forming open notch; gynophore c. 1.5 mm long; pedicels 3–6 mm long, spreading. Seeds c. 2.5 mm long, c. 2 mm wide; cotyledons tending to be biplicate.
