Characteristics

Annual to perennial small shrub, glabrous to papillose, 10–30 cm high; stems decumbent to erect. Leaves entire, lanceolate to linear, obtuse, to 5 cm long, 2–3 mm wide, thick, succulent to leathery, sometimes deciduous in mature plants in dry conditions. Inflorescence an elongated open raceme. Sepals 2–2.5 mm long. Petals slightly longer than sepals, less than 1.5 mm wide, white to purple, the veins more deeply pigmented. Stamens 6. Style shorter than to slightly longer than apical notch. Silicula ovate to orbicular, 6–9 mm long, 5–7 mm wide, glabrous to papillose; wings narrow, one-sixth length of fruit, sometimes acute; pedicels 3–5 mm long, erect to spreading. Seeds c. 3 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide; radicle incumbent.
