Characteristics

Leaves 2–10.5 × 1–5 cm, obovate, oblong-obovate or elliptic, rounded or obscurely shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, pubescent all over or only on the venation or sometimes ± glabrous; petiole 0.4–4 cm long, pubescent; stipules up to 1.3 cm × 6.5 mm, ovate, acute, joined with petioles, pubescent.

Corolla tube greenish-white, narrow, 4.5–8 cm long, narrowed to the base, 1.5–4.5 mm wide, 6 mm wide at the throat, outside sparsely to densely covered with short ± spreading hairs; lobes white, 3–4.5 × 0.8–1.5 cm, narrowly oblong-elliptic, acute, with short appressed hairs outside.
Fruit yellowish in life, blackening on drying, 1.5–2 × 1.2–1.4 cm, oblong-ovoid or subglobose, fleshy, covered with white hairs 0.5 mm long, and crowned with persistent green calyx lobes.
Small rhizomatous subshrub; stems prostrate, shortly hairy when young, later glabrous and with a peeling dark red bark; flowering stems 3–12(56) cm long (excluding flowers).
Calyx tube 4–5 mm long, oblong; limb-tube very short; lobes 0.6–2.3 cm × 4–9 mm, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, sometimes 2 united for half their length.
Seeds brown, 4 mm in diameter, discoid, ± plano-convex, somewhat shiny.
Anthers 1.2 cm long, included; pollen presenter included.
