Characteristics

Annuals. Flowering culms 5–20 cm high. Leaves: basal sheaths sparsely pilose; collar glabrous; blade flat, 0.3–2 cm long, 1–2.5 mm wide, glabrous. Inflorescences 0.8–3.5 cm long; rachis glabrous. Spikelets alternate, 2.5–3 mm long, with 1 bisexual floret; rachilla prolongation to 0.3 mm long. Upper glume lanceolate, 2–2.5 mm long, attenuate, muticous to awned, with awn to 2 mm long, coriaceous, 7–9-nerved, smooth or scaberulous, glabrous. Basal lemma elliptic, 2–2.5 mm long, obtuse, erose, glabrous. Palea keels glabrous.
