Characteristics

Leaves subsucculent, petiolate, alternate; laminas 6–22 × 2–10mm., elliptic, obovate, usually cuneate at the base, glandular-pubescent on both sides, sometimes rough above; petiole up to 4 mm. long.

Prostrate to erect herb, up to 400 mm tall, glandular tomentose. Leaves obovate, 20-30 x 10 mm. Fruits reniform, hemispherical, base with 2 ± distinct ears, 3.5-4.0 mm in diameter. Flowers white.
Mericarps brownish, sometimes bigger than perianth-segments, surface reticulate-alveolate to tuberculate especially above, ridged longitudinally at base, with 2 basal auricles.
Inflorescence axillary, many-flowered, loosely corymbose, pedunculate; bracts lanceolate to ovate, acuminate.
Staminodes 5, equalling or shorter than perianth-segments, with very long, narrow claw and flat broad limb.
Shrublet up to 60 cm. tall, glandular-pubescent in all parts, with decumbent whitish stems.
Flowers small, whitish; pedicels up to 2 mm. long; bracteoles acuminate.
Perianth-segments 5, up to 3 mm. long, ovate, margins membranous.
Ovary 2-lobed, glabrous or very soon glabrescent.
