Characteristics

Hispidulous annual herb, ± glandular-hairy in all parts, with creeping or procumbent to ascending stems. Leaves alternate, petiolate, subsucculent, glaucous, glandular-glabrescent; laminas 11-38 x 3-14 mm, elliptic to broadly elliptic, narrowly spathulate or obovate, cuneate at base, entire; petiole up to 9 mm. long. Inflorescence pseudoaxillary, of rather lax pedunculate corymbose cymes; peduncle up to 3 cm long. Flowers greenish-white, shortly pedicellate, with small acute membranous bracteoles. Perianth-segments 5, up to 3 mm long, broadly ovate, with whitish membranous margins. Staminodes 5, generally as long as the perianth-segments, with a narrow claw and rounded limb. Stamens 7. Ovary 2-lobed. Mericarps up to 2 mm in diameter, not auriculate at the base, the surface marked with a network of ridges forming ± prominently elevated projections at angles.
