Characteristics

Leaves on aerial stem verticillate near base to opposite above, 10–18 mm. long, 6–9 mm., ovate-elliptic, sessile, somewhat amplexicaul, crenate-serrate, shortly hirsute, densely, minutely punctate, with 3–7 parallel nerves; submerged leaves up to 18 mm. long, capillary-pinnatifid, glabrous.

Flowers either sessile in axils of leaf-like bracts or in slender, distantly flowered spikes; bracteoles two, about 2 mm. long, linear, sub-acute, densely pilose.
Calyx 2.5–3 mm. long, densely pilose and with round yellowish glands, not striate at maturity; lobes about 1.25 mm. long, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, divergent.
Corolla 3–4 mm. long, tube pale pink to white, limb white; totally glabrous; abaxial lip trilobed, lobes entire, adaxial lip erect, entire.
Stamens with posterior filaments about 0.4 mm. long, anterior 1 mm. long, glabrous.
Capsule about 2 mm. long, broadly ovoid, pale brown.
