Characteristics

Leaves all opposite, 2–6 x 1.5–2.5 mm., undivided, sessile, thick, sub-rotund below to ovate-elliptic above, serrate-dentate with few small teeth, particularly in the upper third, minutely yellow glandular becoming glabrous, with 1–5 parallel nerves; apex obtuse; base semi-amplexicaul.

Stamens with anthers shortly stipitate; posterior filaments 0.5 mm. long, anterior 1 mm. long, all glabrous.
Calyx 4.5 mm. long, glabrous, not striate at maturity; lobes 2 mm. long, lanceolate-acuminate.
Flowers sessile, solitary in upper leaf-axils; bracteoles about 2.5 mm. long, glabrous.
Corolla 7.5–9 mm. long, purple, densely villous within.
Annual up to about 6 cm. tall.
Style 4 mm. long.
