Characteristics

Rhizomes long creeping, densely scaly; scales appressed, reddish brown, 2-6 cells wide at base and acicular at apex. Fronds approximate or distant, 0.5-1 cm apart; stipe castaneous, 10-30 cm, quadrangular; lamina oblong, 15-40 × 10-25 cm, herbaceous to papery, 1-pinnate; pinnae 1-8 pairs, subopposite at base, alternate apically, narrowly lanceolate, shortly stalked or sessile, base broadly cuneate, margin entire or serrate in sterile pinnae, apex acuminate; terminal pinnae similar to lateral ones; veins anastomosing, veins uniting to 2 rows of areoles along each side of costae, other veins free, visible on both surfaces. Sori marginal, terminal on veinlets; indusia linear, continuous. 2n = ca. 176*.
More
Rhizome slender, c. 1.5 mm in diameter, set with dark brown, lanceolate, attenuate, entire rhizome-scales up to 2.5 mm long. Fronds spaced up to 30 mm apart, erect, membranous; stipe brown, nitid, up to 360 mm long, glabrous except for scales similar to rhizome-scales at the extreme base; lamina up to 450 x 220 mm, simply pinnate; pinnae very narrowly oblong-obtuse, up to 125 x 15 mm, entire to shallowly crenate, glabrous on both surfaces, base unequally cuneate; veins anastomosing. Sori linear, marginal, up to 0.5 mm broad; indusia linear, semi-transparent, erose.
Rhizome short-to long-creeping, 1–2.5 mm diam.; scales narrowly triangular, to 2 mm long, pale reddish brown. Fronds monomorphic. Stipes distant, 10–35 cm long, usually shorter than lamina, stramineous to reddish brown. Lamina 1-pinnate or partly or fully 2-pinnate-pinnatifid, narrowly oblong, narrowly ovate or ± linear, 15–45 (–50) cm long; basal pinnae 3–10 times longer than wide. Veins regularly anastomosing, mostly with 1–3 series of areoles per side. Indusium 0.3–0.5 mm wide. Spores trilete, pale brown.
Rhizome short-to mostly not very short-creeping. Lamina mostly simply pinnate, with up to c. 15 pinnae to a side. Pinnae lanceolate to linear, with almost symmetric base, non-dimidiate, with percurrent costa; veins immersed, rb evident, very oblique near the costa, less so outward, regularly anastomosing even in narrow pinnae, with 1 or 2, rarely 3-5 rows of areoles between costa and margin. Sori continuous; indusium linear, pale brownish, 0.3-0.5 mm wide, almost reaching the margin. Spores trilete, smooth.
