Characteristics

Tree up to 26 m by 56 cm ø. Branchlets terete. Leaves coriaceous, rigid, opaque, ovate-oblong to lanceolate, sometimes ovate, 5-10 by 2.5-4.5 cm; base acute or obtuse; apex acuminate or acute; nerves 5-8 pairs; petiole 7-10 mm. Panicles up to 9 cm, solitary, branched almost from the base. Peduncle very short, sometimes up to 1.5 cm. Pedicels 2-3 mm. Flowers white, 6-7 mm ø. Calyx patent or slightly reflexed in bud, lobes deltoid to broad-triangular, 0.5 by 0.5-1.25 mm, acute or obtuse, sparsely, very short-fimbriate. Petals ovate or deltoid, 2-3 by 1.75-2 mm, obtuse; appendage small, lanceolate, in the centre. Stamens inserted usually between the edge of the disk and the base of the ovary, sometimes quite close to the margin; anthers ovoid-oblong, 1 by 0.5 mm, short-acuminate; filaments c. ⅔ mm. Disk +-rounded, fleshy, c. 2 mm ø, smooth, sometimes with sparse papillae. Pistil pyramid, 1-1.25 mm above the disk; style and stigma obscure. Ovules 7-8 in each cell. Fruits unknown.
